How Minds of Maja began

Minds of Maja started with an idea I had while I was travelling.

I remember thinking about how much I wanted to build a life where I could work remotely, have more freedom over my time and, most importantly, do something that actually felt meaningful. I've always liked the idea of being able to support other people in some way. I wanted to create something that wasn't just about selling a product, but about making someone's day a little easier, calmer or more enjoyable.

That was really where the idea for where Minds of Maja began.

I wanted to create something of my own

The more I thought about it, the more I realised that I didn't want to build a business simply because I wanted to have a business. I wanted it to have a purpose and I wanted to create something that reflected the things I care about deeply. A lot of my lived experiences helped me learn a lot about wellbeing, taking time for yourself, thoughtful gifts and making people feel looked after.

I also wanted the freedom that comes with working remotely.

The idea of being able to work from my laptop, build something from scratch and eventually have a business that fits around my life really appealed to me.

So I started putting the pieces together.

Where the hampers came from

One of the first things I wanted to create was something that could make someone feel cared for. I love the idea of receiving a box filled with little things that encourage you to slow down. Not something overly complicated or extravagant, but a collection of things you can actually use. That became the idea behind the Mellow Mind Hamper.

Tea, a candle, skincare, cosy socks, an eye mask and a journal might seem like small things individually, but together they can create a little ritual. You can make yourself a cup of tea, light the candle, put your phone down for a while and write in your journal.

You don't have to go anywhere. You don't have to spend hours planning anything. You can simply take a moment for yourself.

The Premium Mellow Mind Hamper came from wanting to take that idea a little further. I wanted it to feel more substantial and include things that could be enjoyed beyond the initial unboxing, including a glass tea mug and a Snake Plant (Dracaena trifasciata).

Why "Minds of Maja"?

I wanted the name to feel personal. The concept of my name and the importance of the mind all rolled into one business name. This isn't a huge company with a massive team behind it. It's something I've created from an idea I had while travelling and have continued developing because I genuinely want to see where it can go.

Minds of Maja is about more than one particular product. It's about creating thoughtful things for people who might need a little reminder to slow down. That could be a friend who has had a difficult week, someone celebrating an achievement, a colleague you want to thank, or simply yourself.

And I think that last one is important.

What's next?

Minds of Maja is still at the beginning. I'm building this business one step at a time, learning as I go and figuring out exactly what I want it to become.

There will be more products, more ideas and hopefully lots of opportunities to create things that people genuinely enjoy.

For now, I'm just excited to finally share it.
